They didnt, for 2 reasons, firstly the Nirvana 'sample' isnt a sample it was recorded by John Moores a friend of Paul Dakeyne so he could get a 'clean' sample. Kurt Cobain died shortly after the track was championed by Pete Tong and so obtaining clearence to use even a re recorded riff was going to be almost impossible so thats why the Nirvana riff is missing from all versions but the original white label, (of which only 300 'official' copies were made, the rest including mine bought at the time were bootlegged) the guitar hook on the 'FFRR' release is a pale imitation of the original. and is a re recording (again by John Moores) of the Sex pistols 'stepping stone' to work around the clearance problems with the Nirvana riff The full story can be read on Paul Dakeyne's website, well worth a read!
